Whilst watching the share price continue to plummet, I thought you might want to go back over this article in 2016 :-

This is not a company that is solely concerned with the only thing that matters to you ... your divis"

LK - They could be avin a laff - but it's important to keep looking at all these companies and eventually a Renishaw (although I admit RSW is somewhat unique) or a Treatt jumps up and grabs you.

Brainjuicer (System1) I dunno - they have done well, up until now -- do I know enough about behavioural marketing (no I don't) but it does look like it coud be copied by any bunch of smart individuals.

errm --- It looks like a watchist item perhaps?

Games,

I had a quick squint at their website, m8, and wasn't impressed. There was an article entitled "Data munging with Pandas" and I thought: "Say what, LK? This is not a company that is solely concerned with the only thing that matters to you ... your divis"

LKH etc Data munging with Pandas .... you're 'avin' a laff ... Is 'e 'avin' a laff?

Games,

"Why did they need to change the name?"

Because Brainjuicer was always a damnfool name?

Mind you, I'm not sure that System1 is any better. It sounds like a name dreamed up by a marketing man who hasn't got the first clue what the company does, albeit neither does

LKH on the flybridge any company that falls by a third in a day sounds like a munter

""I wish the CEO would increase the clarity of the company's press releases. In the release today I assume (and hope) that "a little over break-even ""

pharma, that wording also hit me as I was first reading it, I assumed break even meant that there was no profit and the £2.8M this time last year had now been wiped out.
I'm sure this is not the case, but he obviously isn't smart enough to have thought about his wording, which is astonishing considering the company is based around emotional response to the effects of marketing.

32.43% is a big drop, but is it perhaps a reflection of the realisation that scaling a services business is very difficult and the costs and complexity (and possible complacencies) rise faster as you grow?

Is this the next WPP, or a company that will fail due to mediocre management as costs bear down on it?

I'm not in this at the moment, it's certainly interesting but I always have reservations about services companies, having been involved in one.

Some things I think about when looking on at companies that collapse in services (Capita, Babcock, Serco, etc).

You do a very good job, and you get to do it again possibly?
You do a mediocre or poor job and you are out and the word spreads from client to client and your business can be damaged?
You have to keep incurring more cost (expensive intelligent people) to grow the business.
Have the other companies now learnt the once uniqueness of Brain Juicers ideas?
Has the name change confused the customers?
Why did they need to change the name?

Disappointing but not disastrous by pharmaspecialist

I think today's share price fall (23% at time of writing) reflects disillusionment that the performance of this company may not be as predictable as had been hoped and short term growth will not be as good as expected, but I think the long term prospects still look OK. I wish the CEO would increase the clarity of the company's press releases. In the release today I assume (and hope) that "a little over break-even in Profit Before Tax in H1" actually means "slightly higher profit before tax in H1" in which case why didn't he say that. You'd think clarity in communications would be one of the company's strong points bearing in mind the industry it works in.

Flying high by smilingmickey1

Since I last posted there has been a remarkable increase in the share price. We have seen plus 15% in the last couple of days, with almost no change in trading volumes.

The latest trading statement suggest that all is going well and the results should show a healthy growth in profits and good cash position for the year end 31st March. One might expect another special dividend announced when the results are published in June.

The only posts since my last relate to the Company name change!

It feels like flying under the radar!

I think it's an absolutely dreadful name. Given all the 'brain juice' they've apparently been exposed to, whoever thought of this is rather lacking in the imagination department. For some reason it makes me think of Group 4 Security.
I've been watching this company (BJU) for a couple of months now, and I'm so very glad I never bought in. If I had, I think I would consider getting rid of them based just on this name-change alone.

RNS expected anyday by smilingmickey1

  Thu, 19 Jan 2017 17:22:00 GMT
Does anyone own this stock or follow it? I took a small holding a short while ago. The volumes traded are very small and the spread is wide hence I am now only just in profit despite what the recent movement in the share price graph would say!

It announced before Xmas that profit for the 12 months period would be ahead of expectations. Also that the Company is changing their reporting dates from 1st January to April, Also that a more detailed RNS would be issued in January regarding performance, for the year end December 2016. Presumably this will put more meat on the bone as to why BJ is performing so well and the level of outperformance. We might expect that the dollar exchange rate vs sterling will have had a part to play.

Business as usual by pharmaspecialist

Whilst the fall in profits is a bit disappointing, there does not seem to be any fundamental deterioration and, subject to the usual warnings, it is heartening that this conservatively run business is still on track to meet full year profit expectations.
